Is a Biltmore Annual Pass Worth It? (From a Longtime Passholder)
Hubby and I have been Biltmore annual passholders for 13 years. We live close enough to visit regularly, and over time, Biltmore has become our home away from home.
So if you’re wondering whether a Biltmore annual pass is worth it, here’s the honest answer based on how we actually use it.

The Short Answer
If you live within a reasonable driving distance of Asheville, North Carolina, and plan (or want) to visit Biltmore at least three times per year, then yes, I think you should buy an annual pass.
If this is a one-time trip or even a once-every-few-years visit, then no—it’s not worth it.
That’s the simplest way I’ve found to think about it after more than a decade of having one.
Who should get a Biltmore Annual Pass
You live within easy driving distance
Speaking as someone who travels from Upstate South Carolina to Asheville regularly, the biggest factor is proximity. If getting to Biltmore feels like an easy day trip—not a major travel event—you’re much more likely to use the pass enough to justify it.
You’ll visit multiple times per year
The pass starts to make sense when you know you’ll come back.
You prefer slower, repeat visits
If you like the idea of taking your time, the pass fits that style really well.

Who should NOT get one
You’re visiting once
If you’re coming to Biltmore for a single trip, there’s not really a scenario where the annual pass makes sense.
You’re trying to see everything in one visit
An annual pass doesn’t help you fit more into a single day.
You’re traveling from far away
If getting to Asheville requires a flight or a long travel day, it’s much harder to justify the cost.
How we actually use our Annual Pass
We’ve driven to Biltmore Estate just for lunch, for a quick birthday or wedding anniversary celebration, or just to see the azalea garden in full bloom and walk through the gardens for a couple of hours. Other times, we’ll plan a full day.
Sometimes we use it for the annual passholder appreciation benefits of special discounts on stays at The Inn or the Village Hotel, as our wedding anniversary falls during this time.
That freedom completely changes the experience.

The real value
- You never feel rushed. With a pass, you can leave things for next time.
- You see Biltmore in every season. The estate gardens & grounds change throughout the year.
- You don’t miss special exhibits.
- Renewing your annual pass costs less than the initial fee.
When the Pass pays for itself
Once you renew, if you visit two or three times in a year, the pass generally starts to make sense.
Downsides to consider
- It’s a high upfront cost
- It’s easy to overestimate how often you’ll go (life can get in the way)
- It really only works if you live close enough to visit regularly
Final verdict
If you live nearby and plan to visit Biltmore a few times a year, an annual pass is absolutely worth it.
